Video Thoughts:

I agree with what this video is saying. I think living for the real world is better than living for the smart phone in your hand. I like every point he made because it make me think but it also makes me wonder about all the chances I've missed. I think I will try to think about the points made in this video as much as possible. The only thing I didn't agree with was leaving your phone at home but that's just for safety reasons.

What is a 'splash page'? Look it up. Explain what they are and how they are used. Find an example of a splash page in Google Images. Save the image to you computer and then upload it to your blog post. Hint - see below.

A splash page (or splash screen) is a page that pops up before the user can get to the next screen, it kinda sounds like a pop up add. It advertises a website by putting up pictures, graphics, or even using sounds. This is so users are interested in viewing the website. Sometimes the user has to click the screen to get to the website, other times it sends you straight to it. Example below

Status update! Tell me where  you are at on your product website? Can you be finished by tomorrow at the end of the hour? Do you need more time? How much more time? Be honest and explain yourself.

I think I'm going to need another few days to finish the website. I'm a little more than halfway done. I think if I had a few more days I would be done.

Welcome back! How was your Spring Break? Tell me all about it. You've been out of school for 10 days so I know you will have plenty to share. Make it good!

On Wednesday night I went to my friend Miranda's first concert and bought her CD and afterwards I had a sleepover with my friend Jillian. On Thursday I packed for Florida all day and then I had to work that night.Friday I flew to Florida with my grandma and my cousin Lily. We stayed with family in Clear water, Florida and their place was awesome. They literally lived right on the ocean. There was a deck off their backyard that went over the water. They also had a pool and hot tub in the backyard. So we basically spent Saturday and Sunday laying in the backyard. I got insane sunburns. Monday it rained so we went shopping at the outlet malls, long story short, Charlotte Ruesse is officially my favorite store. Tuesday we went to the actual beach and laid out and Wednesday I went to Universal. Thursday was beach shopping and Friday we went home.

Do you like the layout of this project? Have you benefited from your brainstorming sheet? Was it more helpful or annoying when starting to map out your website? Explain why.

I like the layout of this project, I'm just still confused on most things in photo shop. The brainstorming sheet was pretty helpful when mapping out my website because I had a visual of what my website was going to look like.

After reading below to see where you should be on your product website - are you caught up? What helps you stay caught up in class? Do you like having small checkpoints? Are you behind? If so, what are you going to do to get caught up?

The only thing I don't have one yet is my footer. Everything else is solid. I think that if I work really hard today I can gt caught up on my footer and everything should work out OK. Usually listening to music helps me stay focused in class.

What idea do you have that is going to make you product website different, unique or unlike anyone else? If you're answer is you don't know - it's time to start THINKING. Explain your idea.

My idea is to make an online boutique of all the teenage girl's essentials. What I mean by this is every girl has those things she "needs", like bags, earrings, the perfect outfit, and shoes to go with it. My website is a place where all those come together. It's not like any other website, because it doesn't sell just anything. It breaks the products down into specific styles, like girly or edgy.

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

What product have you decided to feature/sell on your product website? Explain why you've chosen this product and remember, the sky is the limit on this project!

I have decided to make an online phone case boutique. I chose this because I knew that phone cases are a popular item and I thought that with all the variety I would be able to make a really cool site. I can't wait for you to see what it looks like!

What are three things you learned about color theory and web design yesterday? Go in to detail. I learned: 1. There are several different kinds of color blind, and it's actually very rare to be completely blind to color. Some people can't see the difference between certain colors, for example, red and green. If you have a dark red ball and a lime green ball, a person who is color blind could tell the difference. However, if you had a dark red and dark green ball, the colors would be hard to tell apart. 2. You can have several different types of color schemes, like analogous, monologuos, and tetrad just to name a few 3. If you have a blue background, you should never put red text because it gives the reader illusions and makes it harder to read.

What effect can a color scheme have on a website? How can it make a website better? How can it make a website worse? Explain why color is important.

Color is important because it can make a website more fun and catch the users eye, where as a blank page would be boring. A color scheme can make a website seem anywhere from fun to serious. However, if a color scheme does't go with the theme of a website or the colors look just plain awful together, it could make your website worse.

What did you learn about file types as you created and designed your travel website? What are some other kinds of file types you know of? What do these different files do? Explain.

I learned a few things about files typs while creating my Travel Site. I learned that there are several different types, not just the default, and that if you save an image as a png it will load better on all browsers. I don't think I know of any other file types, but I'm open to learn about some more!

File type list:
-PNG
-PDF
-PSG
-HTML
-JPEG
-EXE
-.docx
-.pbt

What was your takeaway from this Travel Site? What did you learn that you didn't know before? How will the knowledge of how we built this site help you improve your future websites?

I think the most important thing I learned was how to create roll over images. I think that knowing how to create roll over images will impact my new websites in a great way.

How can Photoshop be a valuable tool in web design? Explain.

It can be a valuable tool because it helps the website designer create pictures that will fit in the site. It can also help with editing pictures.

What do you know about Photoshop? Have you used it before? What can it do? Are you an expert? A newbie? Tell me about your background and what you already know.

When it comes to Photoshop, I know almost nothing. If putting edits on an Instagram picture counts, then that's about it. I do know that most add campaigns and models and actresses use Photoshop in their pictures.

Think about how a user (me or anyone else using your site) might function and interact with your site. What are some important functional features to make your website easy to work with? How can you make it easier for the user and not frustrating? Explain why this is so important.

Some important functional features to make my website easy to work with are definitely the navigation bar and index page. I think the navigation bar is a pretty standard need because it helps the user get to where they need to be on the website easily. The index page keeps the website more organized.

Tell me about your Sweetheart weekend. If you didn't go to Sweetheart, what did you do? I want details!

I went to Sweetheart with a guy named Jay Goodwin. I wore a form fitting black dress with lace details and short sleeves. I wore all red accessories (including the shoes. We ate at Sunset Grill and the pictures were at Zack Willis' house. The after party was at Ryan Jones' house.

Tell me about your All About Me site. What are going to be your 4 main content pages? Why did you choose those topics? What big plans do you have for your site that is going to make it different and creative?

My all about me site is actually going to be pretty cool. I've come up with a lot of ideas that I don't think anyone else is using. Ya, my tabs are pretty generic, family, friends, hobbies, and school. But it's what's in them that counts. I don't want to give too much away just yet, so you can check out all the amazing details when it's done.

What are your thoughts on HTML code? Did you enjoy the coding activity? Do you feel like you learned anything? Explain yourself.

I dislike html codes because I find them insanely confusing. I do feel like I learned something from the coding activity, but like I said, I was very confused so it wasn't my favorite thing in the world. I know you next question to this would be what are you confused about so I will just o ahead and answer. It's mostly just because it's a lot of steps and information to take in. I'll eventually get the hang out it :)

Tell me about your three day weekend. How was it? What did you do? Elaborate!

This Weekend in a nutshell:

Saturday: I went over to a seventh grader's house and taught her some routines for cheer, then I went to work from 4-8pm.

Sunday: I had work again from 10-3 and then cheer  from 3:30-5:30

Monday: I went to a going away party for a little girl I babysit for and then I went and got my swetheart dress and shoe.

Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted it, I should be able to use it."

I agree with this statement because I think that if someone posted it, they should know that once you put an image on the internet, it's there for anyone to use. Now, I don't agree with taking someone's selfie, but I don't see what's wrong with taking a picture off of Google.

What do you know about plagiarism? What do you know about plagiarism on the internet? How do web design, the internet and plagiarism all effect each other?

I know that plagiarism is an illegal act of stealing someone else's work without giving them credit for the work thy did do. I know that it is really easy to copy and paste thins from website to word document, which would b considered plagiarism. There are websites that can detect plagiarism too. I think that because it's so easy to just copy and paste from the website to the blog post, blog writers often commit plagiarism.

What do you already know about web design? How it works? Programs you can use? Tools that exist? Anything.

I don't know a lot about building a website, but I do know enough to answer some of this question. I know that when you set up a website, only you can edit it, but everyone can see the website. I know that you can use blogger or webs to set up a blogger, but I'm sure there is more than just those sites out there. On webs, you can go in and create an entire website, complete with tabs and links and calenders and everything. I used webs when I was little. I don't know much about blogger but I do notice differences between them. I know that there are several types of blogs that exist, like fashion, diy, sports, cooking, etc. I'm not completely stupid when it comes to web design, but I do need to learn wayyyy more.
